My Favorite Lake
By Jim Dicken

I can not explain why, one of those intangible things I guess. Dale Hollow Lake is my Favorite Lake
I like the variety of fish in the lake, I like the fact that there IS a World Record Smallmouth Bass
in this lake, I love the crystal clear waters. For that reason I have spent a lot of time the last few
years on this lake. I highly recommend the Horse Creek   Dock & Resort as a GREAT Place to stay.
This is the friendliest place in the area, and they have great  resort facilities and docking facilities.
I personally know each of the guides listed here. They are all EXCELLENT GUIDES. Among them is
Fred McClintock who was recently inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. Bob Coan
my good friend and excellent guide for Smallmouth and for Walleye in the summer on Dale Hollow.
Ralph Sandfer one of the more recent additions to guiding on the lake, but a man who has fished the
lake for over 25 years with Bob Coan. The Rainbow Guide Service, of John Rush, and Johnny Rush
my personal choice for trout fishing guides on the Cumberland River also guide on Dale Hollow Lake
in the Spring. Last but not least are the Guides of KY. Trophy Fishing,
Greg Carey and 2 time State Record Holder Randall Gibson. Both
Randall and Greg have held state records for trout, and for skipjack in the state of Kentucky.
I know all of these men and all will give you an excellent trip. I have my favorites, but that is from
friendship and comradery of this being my favorite lake. If I was to have to chose any single guide
above another on this list I would not be able to do it based on ability they are all excellent & professional.

Species of Game Fish in Dale Hollow Lake
Bass/ Largemouth, Smallmouth, Kentucky Spotted
Trout/ Rainbow, Brown
Muskie
Walleye,
Bluegill, Crappie,
There may be a few Striped Bass in the lake put there by local anglers.. We highly object
to this practice and condemn it as wreckless to add a species to the lake that is not managed
by the TWRA. DO NOT INTRODUCE SPECIES TO LAKES
That are not approved by your local Fish and Wildlife Department.
