Affordable Alaska Fishing Trips

With the perception of a bad economy all around us, you might think that now is not the time to be spending a lot of money on a vacation. We agree!  After all the big thing right now is making sure that you get something for your money. Well what if I told you that you could go to Alaska, enjoy a great fishing adventure, and come home with enough fish to just about pay for the trip? Think about it, REAL Alaskan Salmon, and Halibut are some of the most healthy fish to eat and in a Grocery store they run about $15.00 per pound. You can potentially Come home with a 50 pound box of fish and you have about $750 in seafood to eat. Toss in some Steinmiller Mushrooms which grow in abundance in the woods near the lodge, clams which you can get on low tides and you can come home with a cornucopia of food fit for a king, all basically caught, picked or dug from the shores of the Kenai Peninsula by you. Add in a day on one of the local Gold Panning rivers and  you might just pay for that trip. You can do all of this for as low as $849.00 per person for 3 guided fishing trips, and a week in a cabin on the Kenai Peninsula.

Where can I get a deal like this? Well first you go to www.1alaskaadventure.com or www.alaska-fishing-guide-1.com and check out the affordable vacations offered by Alaska Discount Fishing and lodging. The owner George is the master of keeping your costs low on an Alaskan Vacation. the accommodations are clean plain 2 bedroom cabins with kitchens with no hot tubs or gourmet meals,. why would you want that in Alaska? The cabins are warm, with comfortable beds and modern appliances. A freezer room has a large freezer for each cabin to keep its catch in, and there is a business next door that will clean your fish, vacuum pack it and help you to ship it home.  You fly into Anchorage and rent a car for a short scenic drive to the facility. Clients get 25% off  car, van or Suv rentals from a national agency at the airport. Around $400 for a week which if there are 4 in your party that is $100 each for the week.

Now figure that it cost you $995.00 for a week at a lodge in Alaska and airfare from most destinations is around $600 right now, and you have an Alaska Vacation that is going to net less than $1000 in cost when you figure in that great Salmon and Halibut. Maybe even less if you catch some BIG fish.. Airfare for less than $600?? With  Priceline.com Airfare - Choose your EXACT flight & time, all you have to do is go to the website and then check the prices. Book your Alaska Trip With George, then go back to Priceline, bid 40% less on the tickets than the basic search you did before. Normally if you are willing to make more than one stop, you can get tickets much less than they are advertised. If you need help with the bidding, you can call me at 502-636-1305 or if you are on AOL you can IM me at Jimd072@aol.com , I even have a get help now button on Fishing Guides Home Page. I visited Alaska Discount Vacations and Funny Moose Lodge 2 years ago and fell in love with the place. So much so that I now spend the season in residence as the meet and greet guy / concierge and to help you with any legal activity you might want to pursue while in Alaska. I even tie a few flies for fishing the Kenai. Mostly egg imitations and flesh imitations for trout, and the ever present Sockey Salmon Flies, mostly made of yarn and tied to a big red hook.

You will be fishing  with guides who are the best in the business. All have been guiding on the Kenai Peninsula for years. The best equipment is used, by each and every guide, and charter. Expect to catch some great fish. King Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Silver Salmon (AKA Chinook Salmon), and Pink Salmon (AKA Humpback in even numbered years) Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Greyling, Lake Trout, and Halibut can all be caught on the Kenai Peninsula. There are even Pike in some locations and I can help you to find those if you decide to come to Funny Moose Lodge or its associated lodges.  Below are some videos shot at the lodge.

We have an Kenai Fjords charter if you want to see whales, sea otters, glaciers, and occasionally bears along the coast of Alaska. There is an ample sufficiency of hiking trails, with opportunities for nature viewing, birding, and even a few hike in lakes where you can catch grayling, an occasional lake trout, or Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden. We also offer day float plane trips to places  where bears fish along the shore while you are fishing yourself. There are some great videos on Youtube.com of the bears at these locations. Here are a couple of them...
